Guidelines

*GLAZED ARTWORK AND WORK TO BE HUNG

Whether it is glazed or not, please ensure that your work can be hung safely - try hanging your work at home to ensure that it is sturdy and unlikely to fall or come apart. Ideally use wire or cord threaded through metal loops on the back and do not use clip or similar frames. Sadly, work cannot be displayed if it is not considered to be safe.

SALE OF WORK

We are proud of the fact that anybody can exhibit their work at the Downley Village Art Show, young, old, beginner or experienced, and the show is not sales driven. However, if you would like to let the public know that you would consider selling your work, that’s fine, but individual pieces will not be marked ‘For Sale’.

Adult exhibitors will be asked on the Entry Form whether you wish to sell, and we will retain details in the ‘Resume’ file held by the Stewards, which potential buyers can view. 

If a potential buyer wishes to contact the artist, we will:

• Pass the contact details to you, for you to make contact yourself, or
• Hand out your business card (if you have one)

If the contact results in a sale, we ask artists to consider making a voluntary donation. As part of the Up! Downley Festival fund, this will benefit local groups, activities and the community as a whole.

Currently the Art Show is free to enter and funded solely by the Festival Committee.

Dates and Times

Artworks are to be delivered to the Downley Community Centre on:

Thursday 27th June between 5.30pm and 8.00pm.

The collection will be on:

Saturday 7th July between 10.00 am and 12.00 pm and Sunday 7th July between 11.00 am and 12.00 pm.

Exhibitors into the Adult categories will be invited to attend a Private View in the Beech and Oak Rooms on Saturday 29th June from 7.30pm to meet other artists and our team of volunteers. Refreshments will be provided.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

• A maximum of six pieces of work per person can be submitted
• All exhibits are submitted for the entire duration of the show at the owner’s risk
• Public Liability Insurance is provided by the Downley Parish Council
• Copyright to be retained by the contributor but with reasonable reproduction rights given to the organisers to use in support of the event, in areas such as the Downley.org Website, Social Media (for promotion purposes), Downley Village News and general promotion of the Up! Downley Village Festival
• If you can provide a digital image of your work prior to the show it would be helpful
• Work will be on show in the Oak Room, Downley Community Centre from 11.00am until 4.00pm on both Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June and from 6.30 pm to 9.00 pm Monday evening 1st July, through to Friday 5th July inclusive
• If entries exceed the space available organisers will have the final decision on the work to be displayed
• Our judges will choose their favourite items in the Junior categories and results will be displayed from Saturday 29th June. Certificates will be awarded to the prize winners and the judge’s decision is final
• Visitors will be asked to vote for their favourite Adult and Junior pieces of work and the results will be publicised at the end of the Show
• The results of the Public Vote will be posted on Facebook and the Website at the end of the Show
